Coach of the Year: 1. Jupp Heynckes 2. Jurgen Klopp 3. Antonio Conte

Ideally I would have liked to have also voted for either of Manuel Pellegrini, Diego Simeone and Rudi Garcia, all of whom have done exceptionally well this year. But unfortunately neither was in the shortlist. Pellegrini did very well with his Malaga side to reach the quarters  of the Champions League and then with Manchester City in the second half of the year. Garcia has really revived a talented Roma side and bought the best out of a number of players. Simeone has forged a brilliant counterattacking team that now lead the La Liga. No mean feat.

Player of the Year: 1. Philipp Lahm 2. Cristiano Ronaldo 3. Robert Lewandowski

Pep Guardiola calls Lahm the “smartest player he has ever coached.” Last year Bayern kept clean sheets over four games against Juventus and Barcelona and only conceded from a spotkick in the final. Playing as right-back Lahm was instrumental in that. This season, he has played as a defensive midfielder and still put in impeccable performances. For me no other player has been better in 2013, and no one has achieved more. For all of Bayern’s stars, Lahm is probably their most indispensable player.

Team of the Year: Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Thiago Silva, David Alaba, Arturo Vidal, Aaron Ramsey, Ilkay Gundogan, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi.
