Euro and World Cup Qualifiers Round-up

EURO 2012 QUALIFIERS:

Montenegro 2 – 2 England: England qualify for Euro 2012 after drawing with Montenegro but the result is marred by Wayne Rooney’s second-half sending off.

Portugal 5 – 3 Iceland: Two first-half goals from Manchester United’s Nani set Portugal on their way to an easy win over Iceland.

Czech Republic 0 – 2 Spain: Goals from Juan Mata and Xabi Alonso helped Spain to maintain their 100% record and give Scotland a lifeline.

Turkey 1 – 3 Germany:  Goals from Mario Gomez and Thomas Muller, plus a penalty from Bastian Schweinsteiger allow Germany to beat Turkey in European qualifying.

Serbia 1 – 1 Italy: Branislav Ivanovic equalised midway through the first half against Italy to keep alive Serbia’s hopes of reaching the Euro 2012 finals.

France 3 – 0 Albania: France maintained their place at the top of Group D with a comfortable 3-0 win over Albania in Euro 2012 qualifying at the Stade de France.

Holland 1 – 0 Moldova: The Netherlands recorded a routine 1-0 win over Moldova to secure the top spot in Group E of the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Greece 2 – 0 Croatia: Greece are a point away from qualifying for Euro 2012 after a 2-0 win over Croatia that was marred by early crowd trouble.

Andorra 0 – 2 Rep. of Ireland: Two first-half goals from Kevin Doyle and Aiden McGeady ensured Ireland cruised to victory over Andorra.

 

WORLD CUP 2014 QUALIFIERS:

Argentina 4 – 1 Chile: Gonzalo Higuain scored three goals and Lionel Messi added another as Argentina defeated Chile 4-1 in Buenos Aires on Friday in the first round of South American 2014 World Cup qualifying for each country.

Uruguay 4 – 2 Bolivia: Luis Suarez scored a skillful fourth minute goal that helped propel South American Champions Uruguay past Bolivia.
